What is TerraMaster enterprise NAS?
TerraMaster enterprise NAS is network-attached storage that combines data storage, file sharing and backup in a single device. The rackmount Enterprise models are designed for multi-user access, storage for virtualization environments and high-volume backup. All platforms run TerraMaster's TOS operating system.
The standout backup component is the Business Backup Suite (BBS). BBS brings Centralized Backup, Duple Backup, TerraSync, CloudSync and Snapshot together under one roof, with no additional software cost. PCs, servers and virtual machines can be protected centrally without buying a separate backup software license.

- Centralized Backup: central backup of employee PCs, Windows Server systems, file servers, and VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines.
- Duple Backup: off-site copies to another backup server, file server, WebDAV server or cloud storage, with incremental, multi-version or deduplicating hybrid modes.
- TerraSync and CloudSync: synchronization between NAS units and PCs, and sync with cloud storage.
- Snapshot: Btrfs-based folder snapshots and read-only file system snapshots for fast rollback against ransomware.
- File sharing and identity: SMB Multichannel, Active Directory and LDAP integration, and iSCSI block storage for virtualization environments.

No. The Business Backup Suite (BBS) comes with TerraMaster Enterprise NAS models at no additional license cost. It covers Centralized Backup, Duple Backup, TerraSync, CloudSync and Snapshot.
Which systems can a TerraMaster NAS back up?
Centralized Backup can protect Windows PCs, Windows Server 2016, 2019 and 2022, file servers using SMB or Rsync, and VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines. For Mac computers, the NAS can act as a Time Machine destination.
How does a TerraMaster NAS protect against ransomware?
TOS provides Btrfs-based folder and file system snapshots, and file system snapshots are stored read-only to reduce the risk of ransomware affecting them. A second copy sent off-site with Duple Backup adds another layer of protection for disaster recovery.
Does a TerraMaster NAS work with Active Directory?
Yes. TOS supports joining an Active Directory domain and acting as an LDAP client. Domain users sign in with their own credentials and access the shares they are authorized for.
